Microsoft have recently released a new version of the Office suite, called Office 2016. The latest update includes a ton of new features and improvements including: -A more modern look with improved fonts and icons. -The ability to create animations from your drawings in PowerPoint. -Improved collaboration with co-authoring tools in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for real time updates from other users while you work on a document. -Improved control over the layout of your document with new tools to quickly and easily change page orientation, apply color themes and change page sizes. -Improved cloud integration with the ability to edit and save files directly to OneDrive and for real time co-authoring in Office 365. On release, Microsoft Office 2016 was only available as a part of the subscription based alternative to Office 360 called "Office 365". This version includes access to all features as well as 1TB of cloud storage on OneDrive. Subscribers also receive regular updates as well as the option to install Office on up to 5 computers either by download or installation disc. On 14 December 2016 Microsoft announced that they would no longer be providing the 'sustained' support for Microsoft Office 2016, specifically Office 365. The end of support occurs on March 31st 2018, with security patches being provided until April 14th 2018. Microsoft's explanation of this change is as follows: "There are thousands of customers using Office 2016 Professional Plus and hundreds of thousands using Office 365 Business. These customers are getting the latest features and updates as they become available. By the time we complete customer deployments for this release, such as those currently underway or started since mid-2015, there will be few remaining benefits to keep supporting it. It is time to take Office 2016 RTM and Office 365 Consumer Preview to the Long-Term Support (LTS) channel."There is a separate line of hardware supporting Microsoft Office 2016, and users can use these devices to view and edit documents stored in the cloud, but not create new ones.
